The Low Carb and Keto Bakery – Yes, Really.

How to make the keto dieter in your life happy? Order from the Low Carb and Keto Bakery. Yes. Do it now.

In search of a keto Easter treat, I wandered through the hills and dales of Google and stumbled upon a modestly designed site, catering, with all manner of delectable baked goods, to those by choice or necessity on a low carbohydrate intake.

I contacted the the bakery on Facebook (also contactable by email and on Instagram) but alas was too late for the holiday weekend. No matter, I ordered anyway, not knowing the day or hour when the goodies would be prepared and shipped. It made the prospect all the more exciting. Finally, a week after Easter, I received word that it was on its way and today was its advent.

The box was delivered by DX, which makes it unusually affordable for baked-to-order, and was marked ‘fragile’. The cakes had moved about in their individual cases, and there was an apologetic note included for any less than pristine appearance of the goods and an offering a discount on the next order. However, in my opinion, this is a small price to pay for the reasonable delivery charge.

The pralines are rich and sweet-tasting,  the cheesecake with biscoff base is remarkable for its exciting ginger note, the mocha torte has a light but satisfying coffee flavour, and the hazelnut creme has a subtle taste and melts in the mouth. I had a little of each (immediately, the temptation was irresistible), and all of the cakes were soft, fluffy, moist, creamy, delicious and surprisingly filling. This afternoon, I sat, again with a sample of each — and at less than 2g per entire slice, this is an entirely allowable indulgence — savouring each mouthful, staring into the blue sky, enjoying an experience bordering on the transcendent. I have now elected Carolin (co-founder) and Jo (who kindly responded to my enquiries) as patron saints of keto dieters.

With the Low Carb and Keto Bakery, you need deny yourself nothing. It’s all there, baked with love by this treasure of a family business: doughnuts, cinnamon whirls, biscuits, buns, cakes, tarts, Bounty and Mars-style bars (I kid you not!), Cornish pasties, sausage rolls, bread, scones, and croissants. Couldn’t have any of that before? Now, yes, you can. Even if you’re gluten-free, you are still very well provided for.

Thank you, Carolin, Jo and family, you made my day, and will make more to come. Off to browse for my next order …
